A vaulted roof is one with no attic, resulting in an open living space directly below the rafters. Even though there is no attic area to vent, it’s still necessary to have some way to circulate the air to avoid heat buildup between the underside of the roof and the interior drywall. Rafter vents, ridge vents, gable vents and soffit vents are all ways to ensure adequate venting.
